This just came to me.
Based on all of the experience & opinions in regards to all of the various techniques, I propose the following: (NOTE: Probably impossible to pull off.)
I think it would be very interesting if multiple people (let's say 5) all loaded for the same rifle. The logistics would be "tough" to say the least. (Passing on said rifle etc) But... let's pretend.
Pick a common cartridge... .308, .243, 7MM... etc etc etc Everyone would have to agree on one Bullet, Powder & Primer (I think)
Each person develops their own load in their own fashion. Everyone starts with the same Brass. Document the exact case prep, type of sizing.... every darn thing....
Everyone gets to shoot the rifle (we'll make it a bolt gun) until they have their best load.
Then.... (Don't know how to make this part work) Compare all of the loads side by side at the range. Maybe put the rifle on a solid sled with a remote trigger pull.
I don't know how we would argue about cleaning... barrel temp.... the list goes on...
You have to admit, it would be extremely interesting.

Maybe I'll volunteer my Browning BLR 308 Win for the challenge so long as I can have input on the load and I get the winning recipe.

We could just measure penises (our own, of course). It would be faster and cheaper...and besides, that's probably what needs to be settled anyway.

You guys post your measurement results first then I'll go. I'm not a one-upper, I promise.

I'm in. I'll donate my 308 Win PBR (parts build rifle) to the challenge. It's a 1/2 moa shooter. I'm currently running 168 BTHP in it, but wouldn't mind playing with a new bullet, like a 195 ELD-M, or Berger Hybrid. Everyone would need to do their own methods on how they work up a load. I've always wanted to try some different methods of load work up, but never made the time to. The big issue with this rifle is that the feed ramp is not modified, so you have to seat the bullets to 2.800" to feed out of the mag, which gives it a jump to the lands.

^^^^^ LOL, would not get off the ground due to argument over BC, temp stability, case quality and primer choice.

It might be an interesting test, and I suggest that there would, or will, be a few common loads that work very well. For instance, it has long been said that 59 gr of H4831 behind a 130gr bullet in a 270 is a great load, as is 38.5 gr of imr4064 behind a 55 gr bullet in a 220 Swift. Note that the loads are at or above some max loads, so proceed with care. I use both loads.
That 220 load is one that I read about maybe 35 years ago. I had a 220. I had the powder and the bullets. I tested the load, and it put 5 under a dime. Been using that load ever since. And it did as well in barrel 2 as it did in barrel 1.

Sounds fun. Id be in. How do we score? my guess is if all materials are the same the difference between the winner and the looser would be at least 2 numbers behind the decimal.
1. Groups? 2. FPS? 3. ES? 4. SD? 5. All of them?

Not 100 yard groups. 200 minimum, I would prefer 300 yards.
Yes, ES and SD over 10 shots. 2 five round strings or one 10 round string, I don't care.

Only way to accurately measure it is everyone has to use the same lot of components. It would be interesting results. Oh and as far as measuring weiners.....I'm 3"......wide Signed, Biscuit

Use the same bullet, brass, and gun. But let the reloaders decide on best powder, primer, and seating depth.
That will separate the competition. And might surprise you.
One shot is all it should take.

That will separate the competition. And might surprise you. Yeah, I see no use in everybody using the same powder and primer. If 5 people did it, three are going to have the same load and the other two are going to be in a couple of tenths of a grain, most likely. Mix it up-same brass and bullet, but the rest is up to the chef.

My reasoning behind keeping all items the same is to evaluate the individuals reloading technique. e.g. Wet vs Dry Tumble Neck Tension Neck Sizing vs Full Length Annealing Shoulder Set Back Jump to Lands Fire Forming Flash Hole Chamfer Neck Reaming / Turning Etc Etc Etc
Once again... I have pulled what ever popped out of my pea brain to use as partial examples.
And... Use some quality factory loads to compare against as well.
As mentioned earlier.... a Whip It Out Contest is probably the way to go. LOL

If you all want to do this I will throw in a little pea shooter (for those that might not measure up)
Browning 1885 low wall in 22 hornet, that little cartridge throws in some variables not found in many others. The rifle has posted some pretty dang good groups with factory ammo. Wonder that this brain trust could do with it.
For those that remember a thread from some years back please NO +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++P+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ loads
