It should be a felony to provide false information or simply lie on any government form concerning past felony convictions. Perhaps the fear of more jail time would be enough to keep convicted felons from trying to purchase firearms.

The broken system is a joke. Harassing legal buyers and allowing criminals to do what criminals do.

One shot is all it should take.

Laws don't stop criminals.....just defines punishment if they are caught......

Of persons lying on ATF form 4473 for purchasing a firearm, reports show that, between 2008 and 2015, the FBI denied 556,496 gun purchases following background checks. During that time period, the report shows that only 254 false statements were even considered for prosecution, amounting to a 0.04 percent prosecution rate.

One more thing they could be using instead of wanting more gun laws, we have plenty if the ones we have were just enforced.

Ten comandments and the golden rule are enough if people would just abide by them.

If you were referring to me, it is a felony. Just very seldom prosecuted. Therein lies one of many problems with the system.

It should be at or near the top of the list since it's so easy to know when it happens, and serves as a significant deterrent to felons purchasing firearms.

A person can wrongly be denied on a NICS check, that's why there is an appeal process. Just because they are denied doesn't mean they lied on their form, sometimes it's input error by the NICS operator.

I was called into jury duty and the case was exactly that. Felon lied on form. This was federal district court not state.

There's a reason most gun laws violators aren't enforced and prosecuted as they should be. We've all heard about this reason as it's a liberal excuse used just about every time a topic of discussion arises over a matter they don't agree with. I won't get into that reason here.
