Need recommendations, $300.00 or less. I don't need a lot of features, looking for simplicity and accuracy to 600 yards. I'll be using this from an elevated position down a mostly dry river bed. I plan to range features and spots on the ground to be ready for crossing game.

I have a bushnell. its 6 or 7 years old now. Think it was right around 300 bucks maybe 350. Says its accurate to 800 yards. I have verified accurately out to 1150. Never had a problem and only have changed that battery once.

A forum member made me a great deal on a used Leupold RX-1000. It's been great, done everything I've asked so far, and has angle calculation for bow. You can get a brand new RX-650 for about half your budget. If you wanted to step up a little, you could get a 1200i or a Sig Kilo 2000/2200/2400. Watch the Black Friday sales coming up.

You're right, Amazon $149 on the RX-650. I didn't realize a good quality range finder was that cheap. A forum member made me a great deal on a used Leupold RX-1000. Be aware that a lot of the rangefinders need a reflective surface at distances over half their rated distance. So quick ranging a tree at 500 yards may not show a reading. If you just want distances to fixed objects, have a look at the free app called HuntStand. You can mark your elevated platform and get distances to fixed objects on a satellite image. It is pretty accurate on distances.
It is far more important to be able to hit the target than it is to haggle over who makes a weapon or who pulls a trigger.
