Bolt gun dedicated towards varmits and pigs. Definitely will be suppressed and cut down to 16” to account for the length of the suppressor. I was thinking about a .22-250 but a .243 with a lighter bullet is intriguing as well. I don’t expect shots longer than 400 yards, so nothing extreme in shots.

Thoughts?

Factory ammo is now available for it with bullets from 90gr TNT for varmint to 130gr Match with the 130gr Berger Hybrid as well as 120gr Fusion, 123gr ELD-M and SST and for cheap plinking 100gr I think it is Wolf FMJ in steel case ammo.

Think Creedmoor in a lighter package with less recoil that is still effective from a 16 inch barrel to well I know of one elk shot at 400 yards that was a one shot kill with a 16 inch barreled AR.

it also has noticeably less recoil than the 243, burns about 25 to 30% less powder which helps reduce recoil and muzzle blast

You really can't go wrong with any

I just cut down a 223 for the same purpose.

If you can get a 1:8 .223 it would be what I would do.

If they made a 1:8 .22-250, that would be the ultimate off-the-shelf buy. In order for me to get a 1:8 .22-250, I had to build it. And once I did, and hand loaded for it, it did not disappoint.
