Now that the weather is cooling down and we have had a good frost it may be time to unleash the beagles and the shotguns together. We have run rabbits all year and now we need to reward these good little hounds with some rabbit fur and meat. But I'll be eating plenty of the meat too.  She's ready!  This pup will be ready soon!

I think my dogs favorite game to hunt is rabbit. I plan to get at least one this weekend.

My dogs love to chase rabbits,,,, the problem is they are bird dogs, and we are quail hunting.

We got them in Kansas. I didn't see anything abnormal on them.

I miss the days of running a group of beagles on rabbits. It was fun. But my neighbors had little appreciation of my pack.

If you have a place to run in your area I can come to run with you some Saturday so you can still enjoy some hound work. Also on December 2nd there will be a beagle hound field trial at the LBJ grasslands not far from you. You can see and hear some great little hounds run there and meet some of the best folks around. They will meet at Alvord at the park around 7:00 to get started and draw out for the trial.
