I was leaving my ranch in Rocksprings to head to town to grab lunch. I past this black buck on the way to town and thought to myself . "that black buck was outside of the high fence" On the way back to my ranch , sure enough this black back was stuck outside of the high fence. I slowed down and watched it for about 10 minutes as it tried to look for a way back into the high fence with no luck.

I am no black buck expert but this looks like a nice black buck. I could have hit this buck throwing a Nerf ball at it.
Is this black buck considered a trophy black buck? What would you score this guy?

Good looking BBB
We get escapees that find our place. They will walk the fence looking to get in with their kind. We had one fighting a LF buck through the fence a while back. The wife shot him when he backed away from the fence. We have shot several "freebees" over the years as they walked the fence.
We have also had two nice bucks break off a horn by getting hung in the fence while fighting.

Neighbor to our east had some show up a couple of years ago. They've increased from one buck and 2 doe to a total of about 7-8. They're behind a 5 strand barb wire fence. Supposedly wont jump it. If thats the case, how did they get there? He says they just showed up one day.

We have had an ever growing herd on our place. Never seen one jump, but those things are masters at going under or through good fences. I don't know how many we have now, but would guess in the 30 range.

That's right if you have a good tight low fence you can keep them in. Although the have the ability ro jump straight up pretty high they seem to have a problem jumping over unless really pressured hard. They will slide under though like tsxhntr mentioned.
