Wow looks to be 90° In some areas! To bad we can’t have the temperatures youth weekend had. Thermacell and Mosquitoes may be the thing after Tuesday’s rain chances.

I haven't been able to go the last few weeks and this will be a good weekend to put some finishing touches on the new stand and make sure all the feeders are right for when the weather turns favorable.
How come everybody I meet is a deer hunting expert?

The deer moved great for us all bow season when it was warm and not remotely close to the rut. I'm going with the mindset that last weekends cold front kick started the deer. Historical timing of the rut in our area will still be favorable for deer to be active. Worst case, we can cull some more pigs from the herd, maybe move them off the feeders for a while.

For what it's worth, I've hunted four weekends of bow season and the deer have moved better on the warm weekends. They stayed bedded up mostly this weekend with the cold weather.

This weekend will be fishing weather. If I see nothing in the morning, I will head to the tanks for awhile and then take a nap waiting for the evening hunt.

Instead of whiskey weather we have a cold beer weekend. Business as usual it seems these last few years.

I'm sort of bummed out looking at the forecast. I'll go out Sat morning but I'd rather have it colder

Acutally decent now. Low in the 40s and high in 70s. Pretty average for north Texas. Last year was 60s and 80s and got nice buck.

Even though the weather will be hot and miserable, its all about the family and friends which will be out there at the ranch with you. Just gonna have a good time this opening weekend. The full moon won't help things either. Probably just kill some hogs. Remember, the worst day hunting is always better than the best day working!

The deer are still there. I know a couple of places where they will sometimes bed down when it is hot and windy on our place. Hint...It's behind a hill in a draw that provides shade and a wind break from a south wind. It can be fun to try to stalk those spots. No matter what, you won't get a shot at one if you stay home to watch football and drink beer.
