Don't overlook the blue box Federals. At the distances you mention either 150 or 170. Whichever shoots best in your rifle.

At that range it doesn't matter, whatever is cheap and shoots decent in your gun.
Shoot. Eat. Repeat.

At those ranges just pick one and sight it in using that round. You can buy the basic Remington ammo at like Walmart and it will do fine.
Deer won't know the difference between that and a custom rifle with custom ammo at such ranges.
To be determined

^^^These shoot best out of my marlin^^^ Same here. I would suggest sighting it in with them. My husbands 30-30 was sighted in with Core Lokts at 100 yards. When he used my Hornady ammo he was shooting way high. Had to sight it in for the Hornady. Now he's a Hornady fan too

I use Federal Fusion with my early 80’s Marlin since all my shots are under 100 yards. Works great!

^this, without a doubt. Here's why: - you may ' plan' on 50-75 yards, but when that ONCE IN A LIFETIME wandering monster BIG BUCK shows up at 175 yards and won't come in a step closer, your 'corelocks' and 'federal-blue' are WORTHLESS and you'll be kicking yourself for CHEAPING out only to save $5! With the LeverRevolution (and range practice), you are PREPARED and ready to take him with confidence (and not some mythical 'artillery holdover' miss) and hang that sucker on the wall!

Recently got a gym membership, strange folks! I like to show up the roid zombies with my full motion curls with the 55lb. bells. Not their cheater short stroked light weights. It's holarious.

Funny, a lot of opinions but the OP hasn't been back or at least weighed in. Good to see so many are still shooting a 30-30 Win. I will have my Win M94 Timber Scout in hand on opening morning. I shoot a cast bullet and don't have a problem sending the large meplat bullet out to where it needs to be. Honestly, our large bucks aren't going to be out where you can shoot beyond 150-yards, for no reason. A large deer is going to be killed in cover, inside 70 yards. There has been a lot of deer killed on my ranch with the 30-30 Win, more than any other cartridge, as both my dad and I shoot it and many of my hunters have as well. The LVR ammo is great but I have personally seen two fails on great shots that I observed through binoculars. Both proper chest cavity hits one at 70 and another at 125-yards where the deer exhibited the characteristics of a fatal chest hit as it hit the brush but no blood or deer. The fellow, who is my best friend took it hard as he is a very experienced 30-30 hunter. I suggested he run to Wal-Mart and get whatever bullet design had the most exposed lead and he did. Usually, if you lose a deer we call it the same as a kill but I let the hunter get busy, no losses after that. The has been successes with LVR since but us 30-30 guys still ponder the loss around the fire. My thoughts are that it was bullet failure via not expanding. I suggested he contact Hornady with the lot number as I know they take their products seriously. This will be a Timber Scout year for me starting with the 30-30 Win. I have a 44 Mag (only 100 made) and follow that with a carbine that I converted to 35-30. Oh, my ammo... For you reloaders...
