I'd say management, but I do highly enjoy the meat production that goes along with population control.

I just like killing animals. Same. Assuming it’s for a purpose. I’m not interested in killing animals I’m not going to eat. But I’m every bit as happy to shoot a hog as I am to shoot a deer. Don’t have much desire to kill coyotes or raccoons. But I’ll kill a squirrel or rabbit every time if I have a gun that won’t destroy them.
The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil interference. -George Washington

There's no option for "guy with a gun that's never killed a deer". This will be the year

If you want some friendly advice, get a haircut and take a bath. You wouldn't get hassled so much.

I love killing especially hogs. I donate the majority to soldiers on Ft Hood, I have a long list of people waiting for hogs. During the summer I usually dump them bc its too long between killing, gutting, and getting to someone in that heat. I also love hunting and everything that goes into it including all the long sweaty days working in the summer getting ready for deer season. I have a huge respect for deer to me they are very majestic and I respect them but still like to kill them. I consider myself a management minded deer hunter. I don't get pleasure just shooting a legal 2 yr old even on public land. Id rather shoot a 5+ yr old deer any day of the week and its even better when you have a history with them. I hunt for food, fun, pleasure, management, pride, bragging rights, getting youth into the out doors, but I don't let any of that take away from the main reason and that is spending time in the outdoors with good friends. I try not to judge other hunters methods of hunting even if I don't agree with it personally.

So far I am none of those. Since I have only shot 2 does so far I guess I really wanted to prove to myself that I could be a successful self taught hunter. My 2nd doe I am most proud of because of how hard I hunted to score on public land

Hasn't happened once in the last 15 years. Thats me... happened the last 3 years in a row... this year showing to be more taxing lol much less time with work still busy out of the selections though.... it really just depends how hungry I am... as much as I want to wait on the biggen ill smoke the first 5yr old plus buck that walks infront of me..... I will not squeeze on anything 3 or younger either way.. plenty of doe to fill that spot

Probably some of all of them. I've had plenty of opportunities and have horns and heads on the wall. I'm retired, live on my own 150 acres and enjoy being outdoors and watching wildlife. Now, I mostly manage and watch family and friends take home meat and an occasional family trophy deer. Even though I don't hunt deer anymore, there is never a shortage of venison sausage, summer sausage, back strap or jerky here!
As for hunting, I've moved over to night time pigs and sometimes varmints and keep plenty busy doing that. Still get to have a challenging hunt and am rewarded by doing something to stop the landmine holes in my fields and slow down the pigs at the feeders. And feed a few friends and some coyotes/buzzards along the way.

Try to be 2 and 5. Got enough 120s on the wall. A doe or two is going down by end of season for meat. Try to never buy ground meat.

I'm all about sausage for my smokehouse. While I do see trophy deer, I just enjoy being outdoors.
I Feed Indian Corn. The deer love it and all the colors make them stay at the feeder longer.

Just curious were everyone stands. Which one are you?
1. Meat hunter 2. Trophy Hunter 3. Management oriented 4. Opportunistic 5. Socially driven 6. In for the comrodery 7.(Fill in blank)
Myself I am a meat hunter that will gladly capitalize on a trophy if and when it's presented but my focus is full freezers hands down. I am most of the above but my order would be 3. Management oriented 2. Trophy Hunter 6. In for the comrodery 4. Opportunistic 1. Meat hunter I take 3-4 does for every buck I shoot, but I am hunting for a mature buck, no doubt. I enjoy time in the woods and the success of the hunt is not based on killing a deer. We eat a lot and give away a lot of venison. It's time I get to spend with my dad.
