Way to go great bull! Don’t hang it up now though the table is hot and you are the shooter!

Congrats on a nice bull! Details? Shot him last Saturday evening. Hunted a different area that morning and moved a few miles east that afternoon after only seeing deer Got settled in to my new spot around 3-3:30 and took a nap. About 4:30 woke up and fiddled with my gear, phone and watched a mouse of some sort dog around near my foot for a few hours. Around sunset, it starts getting cold and as the end of legal shooting light aproches I start gathering my gear, put on my jacket when I hear an elk mew across the valley in front of me. I look and see him walk out of the timber about 260 yards out. I pull up my glass and look at him for maybe 5 seconds, surmising he has more than 4 points on a side and put them down, grab the Weatherby and shoulder it. He starts to feed and I place the crosshairs on his shoulder (I still haven't looked at his horns yet) say a prayer and squeeze one off just behind the foreleg. Gun recoils and I hear the bullet hit and see him running across the meadow. I rack another round in, swing on him and let another one fly, it hits him about 4" above where the first bullet did and he slows to a walk, takes a few steps, turns an starts to wobble. I keep the gun on him and after a few seconds he falls. Only at this point did I see his rack but it still did not register what I had killed. I run over to him to check him out when I hear a rifle shot close by, I assumed it was my partner who was hunting semi-close by I get to the buggy and ask him about his shot, he says " well, I heard you shoot twice and I figured you were lost so I gave you a locator" We go back to the bull, gut him and snap a few pics and leave him their till the next morning. It was a fun hunt, the least amount of effort I have put in on an elk hunt and got maximum results. My 7mm scope took a dump on me during our sight in session and I never could find a suitable replacement so I ended up using my .257 wby mag. I'm much more impressed with that gun now than I was before o

I leaving Wednesday sure would like to see one like that.

Well done! Curious...what bullet were you using in the 257? did it exit? thanks 110 grain accubond. Didn't exit but did mushroom up under the hide on the far side. Perfect bullet performance. I've shot a few mule deer with this combo and it gives the same performance
