I quail hunted this weekend and watched the World Series. Quail hunting doesn’t happen at night

We went out on public land. Had a blast. We worked hard and of coarse so did our dogs. We hunted the morning and had lunch in town. Then returned only to sleep at a windmill till it cooled down. Had a great evening. We figured out that the birds were down in draws in shade in a specific kind of cover. We found 9 coveys and shot 12. Seemed like everyone else was just driving around looking for birds on the roads. It's not as good as last year but it's a hunt no doubt. The birds were running a lot. It's to dang hot still. We will be back at m tomorrow

30 degrees Saturday morning and the rocket scientist typing this left his coat six hours away at home Went anyway, pointed several coveys but the shinnery was so thick the birds ran out, couldn't flush I'm being told anyway. Well worth the trip just to let the dog run. He's one tired mutt
There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE

Still a lot of green out in the fields. Waist high grass, and knee high ragweed makes for bad scenting conditions. I had knee surgery last year. I'll be waiting on a good frost/freeze, before I consider any serious hunting. It makes for a easier walk, and a better chance of the dogs finding birds.
Shopping with your husband is like hunting with the game warden. Experience is what you get, when you didn't get what you wanted.
