Looking for suggestions on any specific brand and model. In the market for a feeder, want something that is low enough for turkeys to access feed (probably rules out gravity fed?). Hopefully something I can fill and walk away from for a month or two. I've baited for deer before (just dumped corn & sweet potatoes in a pile), but this time it's more to just keep birds in the general area. Money not really an object, but obviously don't want to overpay either. Prefer dependable over cheap. Thanks in advance!

So you need a feeder to keep turkeys in your area. Well just be sure that the feeder will not have cattle, goats, hogs or any other animals near it (except for deer of course!) A 55 gallon spin cast feeder that is not too high off the ground should work. Perhaps having it throw corn/milo about an hour after first light then about 2 hours before sunset should be about right. Keep the area around the feeder well trimmed/mowed (bigger area the better.) Turkeys like wide open areas.

Yes, should have mentioned, I live in Pennylvania. Will be setting this up on vegetable/grain farm, so shouldn't be a problem with livestock, bears, or hogs getting into it. The Alamo feeders look great, but I'm thinking the freight to get it here wouldn't be cost effective.

Standard feeder should do the trick.
I personally like to put feeder higher so it casts the corn/feed over a wider area but have to carry a 6' step ladder or stand on my Mules bed to fill it.
When feed is spread out wider, they have to look for it more and stay in area longer.
It also keeps fights to a minimum as they can spread out and eat instead of being in a small area.

Basically any 55 gallon barrel type feeder should do the trick and holds a couple of weeks worth of corn.
Add a solar panel to keep feeder battery charged.
If you have coons and/or squirrels, get a steel barrel and put a cage around feeder unit and protect the wires from solar panel to box.
If you have ANY pigs, cows or goats/sheep in area, be sure to stake the legs as they will rub on them and spread them out.

A simple sun sensor controller will adjust with the seasons and feed morning and evening.
A digital feeder controller can be set to feed when you want.

I've had good luck with this box using both sun sensor and digital controllers.
It's big enough to hold the bigger 6v-7ah batteries that last well during a week of no sun on solar panel.
It is very adjustable and fits on a lot of different containers from 5 gallon bucket to 55 gallon drums to large home made feeders.
The case is sheet metal so it stands up to squirrel and coon abuse well.

Just go to Amazon and order yourself the wildgame innovations programmable feeder that is above. Cut a 1 1/2inch hole in the bottom of a metal barrel and install the system. It shouldn't cost too much to deliver to Pennsylvania. Oh, and you will need 3 pieces of pipe to hold your barrel up.

The issue is it appears you are out of state and some of the better feeder makers are local independents making sbipping part of the equasion. Not sure you would want to pay what it would cost to get them there.

You are correct Greg. I probably should have also specified that I am mostly interested in mass-produced versions(Moultrie, Boss Buck, Wild Game Innovations, etc). Shipping will probably be costly, I agree. I live close enough and have a truck to pick it up from Bass Pro, Cabelas, Tractor Supply, etc.

Is there an Academy in your area? maybe Amazon Prime. I have had a Wild Game Innovations for two years. No real problems and replacement parts are available.

I have 3 of these running, 2 of them are on their 4th year. No problems, have had to change the 6v battery out in both of those once I think. Run them year round spinning 1-2 times a day.

These are best in class in my humble opinion. They are light so shipping to PA won't kill you either. They can be anchored so wind, hogs, etc won't knock them over. Customer service is outstanding.

My first choice, Texas Hunter Products, Kit, 12 volt with solar panel. Second Choice, Spincast 12 volt with solar panel.

Order these, and locally source a barrel and have some fun building it. Cut one hole in bottom of barrel, buy a leg kit from any number of sources and get after it. I been running the Texas Hunter for 10-12 years with no issues. This is my first season on Spincast. Both are very easy to operate and dependable.
