Does anyone hunt Goliad County or know anyone who does? The land I hunt is in between Berclair and Pettus. Due to Hurricane Harvey or deer activity and even hog activity has been extremely low. Before the storm I was seeing all my normal deer on camera and even a few new ones. But since I've only caught one doe on my camera and very few hogs which are normally at the feeder every day. I even spoke with a guy who hunts the South side of 59 and he said he's only seen one deer as well. Just curios if anyone in the area is seeing the same problem or if anyone has any insight as to why this is taking place. Thanks!!

Plenty of native forage in the pasture. They'll start moving around soon enough. Unless your place got flooded, then all bets are off.

I haven't seen any decline on my cameras, I'm in Three Rivers about an hour from you. How much wind and rain did you get?

Garrett / Erath, guess there are only a few of us that hunt in the near/around Goliad judging the feedback.

I'm in DeWitt County about 30 miles due NNE of Beclair. The area, in general, had gotten pretty dry before Harvey but coupled with the rain received and a month worth of 90 temperatures, native stuff is growing and acorns are falling. I have five bucks with about 50 yards of my dining room window but these deer are addicted to the benefits of yard life, out it the pasture it is pretty slow. Plenty of food, water, and cover.
stxranchman hailed from Berclair but he hasn't been online for almost a year.

My place is up in the northern part of the county right near Weser. I noticed abnormally low levels of deer movement last weekend as well. I figure they're sticking to the woods and brush and not really coming out into the pastures.

I think in total over the past few months we've had 30 inches. The ground is still wet when I break the surface in low areas. I've seen my normal does coming to the road when I corn but they still won't hit the feeders.
Actually I've been talking with stxranchman on messenger and he's been saying the same thing, low activity even at his food plots.

JGarrett, I guess its good for the deer, it seems they're getting all they need. Activity should pick up in December. I'm bringing my two boys for youth weekend in Oct. might make a trip before that to check on things but the rancher told me we got 3in for Harvey and hasn't rained since. The moon phase will be perfect for youth weekend so that should be a true test to see if they're moving, hopefully it'll cool off by then.

Garrett we also hunt between berclair and pettus off 883, we've had decent movement at pretty much all our feeders a week or so before bow season started, a lot of young bucks, a couple more mature bucks too, even at the same time under the feeders. Not a lot of doe yet though. But compared to last year it's slow still. We probably haven't seen over half of what's usually out there. They have a lot of grass to eat right now and acorns have dropped. Last week it looked pretty slow especially when that rain came in in the middle of the week.

Has anyone seen any increase in activity with the cooler temps?
I won't be able to make it back down until the 27th, hopefully things get back to normal by then.

Between coyotes, bobcats and hogs I've see a lot more movement but the deer activity is still slow. I Have a few normal does that hit the roads everyday but still no bucks like I was seeing before the storm.

The boys are showing back up at our place in Bee county, My opinion I don't think that Harvey had anything to do with movement, it's all the acorns in these areas and it's super green still!! I was looking at past game cam pics this is about the time I start to see the big boys show up till the end of the season but every year is different

Been seeing a little more movement now, a few bucks we haven't seen yet first showed up this past week on the cameras, although they were still younger than what we are looking for. Still an improvement than what it has been like.
