Any info on deer or hog population would be helpful. Looking at property boardering to the national forest.
Thank you

I hunted there for 5 years. The duck and squirrel hunting is good on the river. The deer hunting sux bad enough I quit until I was fortunate enough to move back to west Tx.

I found a small place that borders the Angelina forest. You think it would be worth trying to hunt out there? It's in the town of Zavalla?

There are good deer but you need to work for them on the national forest. It gets moderate pressure. I'm about 25 miles north and we have a pretty healthy population of hogs. Most show up on my camera at night right now.
I pulled a Bannister permit the last 3 years but haven't had time to use it. You would be closer to Moore Plantation. I would say that if you are looking for big trophies it is not the right area but if you want to hunt there is plenty of space and animals.
There is great crappie and cat fishing on the lake too.
