This is why I do what I do. A good friend of mine called me this morning to tell me he successfully took his elk last night with his 300 Win Mag at 530 yards!!! We built him a custom 300 Win Mag, I developed a custom load with a 190 grain Nosler Long Range Accubond. We have been practicing out to 800 yards with his 300 WM getting good, solid DOPE (trajectory data), and shooting in the wind. After playing with his rifle, we shot about 100 rounds of my 308 Win BULK ammo in my Rem 700 parts build rifle practicing in various shooting positions- prone, off the roof, standing using a tree, etc. We practiced these positions out to 500 yards with the 308 for added trigger time for more prep. This morning I got the call he took a nice bull elk last night at a lasered 530 yards (with Mulie Mike on here) and dropped it with one shot shooting off of shooting sticks. He told me he would not have had 100% confidence to make this shot without all the work we put into it. He knew where that bullet was going to impact when he took the shot. With all of the BS that goes into customer service, making ammo, working up loads, range time and all the labor... the pure joy of my customer's success is why I do it! You can not put a price tag on having absolute confidence in your equipment, rifle, ammo, and shooter ability!! I absolutely love my job when the hard work pays off. This is why I do what I do!
