Years ago I experimented with estrus during rut. I was always careful to do it close to rut (I am a believer of the second full moon after the autumn equinox).

However, not only has it not worked drawing lusting bucks from the shadows, I have witnessed does overly nervous once they get the scent OR bucks walking past - completely ignoring the scent. I wonder if bottled estrus could be a completely foreign scent that works against the hunter. Have others witnessed this behavior? Perhaps there's so few doe where I hunt that bucks can tell its foreign, perhaps even differences in genetics/diet/region make estrus smell different. Thoughts?

Bottled urine has preservatives in it. The real thing does not. I tried a few of the bottled doe in heat brands years ago with ZERO success. What WILL work are the tarsal glands from a doe in heat or the tarsal glands from an older, rutted up dominant buck (black hocks). Cut them off, place in a ziploc and deploy the next hunt. I like to hang or place them around scrapes that are visible from my location.

I had some good success with trails end. A lot more than with doe estrus in a bottle. The bucks came in all bowed up.

Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

I have two instances where Tinks 69 worked for sure!

First time was when I was hunting in Lampassas. I was 16' in the air in a tree stand and opened a bottle of Tinks 69 and then proceeded to accidently drop it. It went everywhere!! That morning I videoed one of the best 9 points I have ever seen right at the base of my ladder sniffing it. It also lured in a crab claw 11 point right to me as well, followed by a nice 10 point, not to mention the other smaller bucks as well. I have it all on video too. Never saw any of those 3 big ones ever again. hammer In all fairness I have never been able to duplicate that success since then.

The other time I made a mock scrape using it knowing the wind would push the scent right into the bedding area that the buck I was hunting was using. I only saw one deer that morning and it was the one I was after. He was 20' away from that mock scrape heading right for it when I put a arrow in him.

It works, but the time has to be right or they will ignore it and in some cases even steer clear of it.

I've never had tinks work and have seen deer get nervous around it. Then I went to code blue. They didn't run but it seemed that only the young bucks were interested . I learned to just use the whole bottle cause the wick in the bag didn't work at all on the next hunt. Then I went to special golden. It was the same as code blue. They were not super impressed with it. I ended up killing the boss buck on that hunt but I arrowed him after he already walked passed and was about to head out.

Honestly and especially if your going to hunt near feeders or over them it's best to keep everything as natural as possible

Nothing is necessary, high or low fence. I hunt both, so go troll someone else with your high fence BS, sir.

Chill out home skillet. I was only joking.

I'm sure there are many HF places that are harder hunts than the place I just got off of.
