Yes, he was killed on a high-fenced 1,809 acre ranch. 5.5 years old. Native, Webb Co. deer. 200 1/8 gross. 11 points due to a 1" kicker. My wife's 2016 buck which we've kept quiet, until today when we picked him up. Missing a bit of mass, which I'm sure he'd have gained this year, but just couldn't risk losing him last season.

How would you lose him on 1800 acres of high fence?

Wow!!! Look at the tine length! What is going to happen with the poor fellow on the couch who lost his spot? I get antsy when thinking about relocating mounts... smirk

Webb county is the heart of the brush country. Its nasty. I know ranchers that loose cattle, only to have them show back up two years later and they gather via helo. Toss in that and natural mutuality it would be a shame to loose a deer like that

From getting gut punched by another buck. Could also get sick and die. Or get eaten by yotes post rut. We let MOST of our deer go to at least 6.5, but this one was just too special. We have deer that we've had three years in a row of trailcam photos on, then they vanish. Sometimes never to be seen again and some show up again after a 2-3 year hiatus. I killed a cull last year that was 10 1/2 years old. Had been tying to find him and kill him for four years in a row. That's how you can lose a deer on 1,800 acres. And no, there are no holes in our fence.

I Feed Indian Corn. The deer love it and all the colors make them stay at the feeder longer.

reasonable answer. i hunt in Webb on a 6400 acre low fence place on the Rio Grande. i've seen them swim to Mexico. Wouldn't have thought you would have that many problems on high fence place.
