When loading for your .30-06, do not put the 8lb jug of Reloder 15 on the floor with the lid off, then knock it over when you get up from the bench to load bullets. I was lucky. The jug is only half full, so when it fell over I only lost about a handful. Could have been a lot worse, if I had kicked it pretty hard. Be careful out there.

Yes, close call. My personal peeve is somehow not getting the cotter pin in correctly on a 100 count primer tube, and the primers launch out in rapid form. Those are always fun!

Do not reload while drinking. Twenty years ago I skipped a case once and seated all bullets, and went to the range only to come home halfway through the session with a bullet lodged two inches into the barrel. Gunsmith had a hard time knocking out that bullet. Primer itself had launched that 150 grain bullet into the rifling with no powder.

Did it feel like just a misfire, or was there something more noticeable? On a side note, I don't think there's anything wrong with a drink while loading. One of life's little pleasures. If you're the type of man that can't handle nursing one, you're too girly too be reloading.

Do not grab just any box of bullets off the shelf that has "75 grains" written on it. They might be 6MMs or they might be .257s, and a .243 case looks weird with a .25-caliber bullet seated in it. Somebody I know did that.

Make sure the powder bottle is UNDER the valve on your Chargemaster when you turn the knob

...and make sure that damned knob is closed BEFORE you start pouring powder into your blasted Chargemaster. After you've learned this lesson four or five times, you'll begin to remember it.

I heard the hammer strike and a tiny explosion from the primer and that was it. Luckily I did not chamber another round in it and fire it off. I pulled the bolt out to check the bore and could not see the other end.

Chargemaster powder drain? I don't even want to talk about it.

Chargemaster powder drain? I don't even want to talk about it. I bought a Lyman Gen 6 and have done the same thing a few times.

LOL. I finally reached the point that checking it is the first thing I do when I set it in position. One of my favorite sayings from my Navy days: good judgement arises from experience, and experience arises from poor judgement. Just part of being human, I suppose.

Charged 50 cases in a loading block with powder before noticing they were unprimed. Dang!

Seat a primer backwards, some I also have a factory load that is that way.
Trust some of the load data you find on line, might wind up with +++++++++++++++++P+++++++++++++

When I was a kid, many years ago, one of my friends father was a police office and did a lot of reloading. I remember once walking into the garage and seeing him at his bench over a pan of powder, with a marlboro hanging from his mouth. Even as a kid, I did not think that was terribly safe.

Do not smoke while reloading. Believe it or not I've temporarily been around a few that did & still know one old man that always smokes his pipe while reloading.
If you spill ball powder all over your bench & on shag carpet & are missing a few primers don't use an old Kirby vacuum to clean it up.
