It's a spray that you spray on the dogs feet. Old timers say it's good enough to keep sand burrs out of your dogs pads.

I've had some pad problems over the years. It never seemed to help for me.

I use it couple weeks before season, but won't stop grass/sand burrs. I use the liquid in squeeze bottle.

My problems have been blown pads. I'm not sure it would help there. They seem to come back stronger after they had been blown.

Also depends on your dogs feet. Tight feet are more burr resistant. Splay footed dogs have a tough time with burrs, no matter how tough their pads are. Boots are needed on my splay footed dogs when hunting in burrs

I've seen plenty of dogs with blown pads that were kept in concrete runs and roaded them on gravel roads. Never in all my years did I have a dog slip a pad. We kept ours on screenings from the gravel pits since I was a boy. Always had a pile close to the kennels to refill over time. Built a concrete boundary and filled the bottom with screenings soak it in with water and pack it down. Dries like concrete but is rough on top. More work cleaning kennels but the dogs had tough feet. A short square shovel and a hoe cut off to about 2' long made quick work of it. Another plus was they liked digging in the screenings which kept their nails short. Tight feet really are the ones too have. But old Sam was a loose splay footed dog I had in 1992. He'd run thru burrs and get them out on his own. I try not to help them get the burrs out. They learn to do it on their own most of the time. Now these cockers I got now... they are sticker and cuckle burr magnets.

I have used it in the past when I have leases where parts of it had rocks. Had a lease near Albany about twelve years ago that had intermittent rocks (but not quite worth fighting having the dogs booted all day) and I would do Tuf Foot for a couple of weeks before the season started. It would help as a preventative with the minor "burn" type stuff that small sharp rocks would cause.

It will toughen feet and help with torn pads but won't stop spurs. If you have a Brit clipping his feet and between his pads if possible will help with spurs somewhat.

With torn and split pads, I hold a garden hose against the pad with high water pressure as long as the dog will tolerate it and as often as I can. This stimulates pad regrowth.

I really don't see that it helps. Been using it for 10 years now cause I thought it was cheap insurance. But will quit this year

I have used it on my female that has light colored pads. Didn't seem to help her but nothing seems to help those pads.

One of the best bird finding dogs I ever hunted was a beautiful lemon EP that unfortunately had soft feet. I tried everything including tuff foot which did not help one bit. She would slip a pad in a few hours and be down. Best thing I ever found to keep her going was when my wife suggested I rub her pads with Mary Kay extra emollient night cream and wrap the front pads with gauze and then boot her up. I could run her maybe three days in a row if I could keep the boots on her front feet. It was a pain but she was so much fun to watch it was worth the trouble.
