I’ve been hog hunting a friends property in Grayson Co.
During deer season he asked me to not use a rifle.
So I got a crossbow with a digital NV device*.

This was my first time to use this set up.
I don’t think I’ll ever be able to top this hunt!
When you’ve been using thermal weapons system for over a year you forget how different digital night vision functions.
Nothing like having a 270 lb. boar walk right towards you at 8 Yards!
Did I think I was going to die - YES!!!


*BTW - I’m currently trading my 5x NV device for a 3x or less magnified model.

Your experience with the night vision issue in vegetation having a contrast issue is the same problem we had. I could easily see an animal in my thermal to locate it and get into position. We would transition to our rifle with NV and we could not find the animal to take the shot. The clutter and contrast issues were really bad in heavier cover of the woods. After these issues, is when we went 100% thermal. We have not had a problem since. Thermal is the way to go.

^ totally agree. I’ve contacted several thermal companies none will confirm recoil stability of Crossbow with their thermal. So I’m stuck with Digital NV.

Not about to dump a few thousand into a thermal and then not have them warranty it.

^^ Yes, that's a good question. The cross bow will have a totally different recoil impulse than a rifle.

Totally agree!!! The market isn’t going to have a 0-3 magnification. So you gotta over come.
