The only difference in pile work and pattern blind is that pattern blind you don't show the dog where you drop the bumpers. So they learn early on, to run strait without seeing bumpers dropped.

I do walk behind cold blinds usually out to 300 yds. I send, then walk behind the dog as necessary to handle. Usually I don't have to walk up after 2-3 days.
This is the Farmer/Aycock method
