Texas Ranked 5th in Top 5 States For 2017 Whitetail. Looks like Arkansas is The Land of Opportunity.

Quote:
When it comes to sheer numbers, nobody can compete with Texas. It topped the QDMA survey for both buck population (290,590) and antlerless population (257,247), totaling 548,337 deer harvested. With more than half a million deer bagged in the Lone Star State in the aforementioned timeframe, it’s not a bad place to start.

Interesting that AR ranked first with the age of bucks harvested. I remember when they were almost hunted out in AR years ago. Then the state instituted restrictions that forced hunters to let the younger bucks walk and the result is that they are now killing older bucks.

My buddy lives near State College, PA and his wife's family deer hunts. There are so few deer and the season is so short that people shoot any buck they see. His father in law has shoulder mounts of 4 and 6 point bucks I wouldn't think about killing in Texas.

I don’t know about State College, but around Williamsport, the locals complained about not having any deer, and I saw deer all over the place. There was a lot of people that hunted, though.
