I have a co-worker looking for a place around DFW that will allow the legal taking of squirrel with an air rifle. All the public hunting land I know of won't allow air rifles and are shotgun/archery only. Does anyone know of a place I can refer him to?

My housing plan is a target rich environment, but I'm pretty sure the soccer moms would be out with torches and pitchforks at the sign of the first dead squirrel. It would be safer to hunt them in Afghanistan.

According to the web, the air rifle is now legal for squirrels ONLY (in regard to game animals).

"pellet guns and other air guns are not legal for the take of any game bird or game animal other than squirrel. To be lawful for the take of squirrel, an air rifle must be designed to be fired from the shoulder and use the force of a spring, air, or other non-ignited compressed gas to expel a projectile of at least .177 caliber (4.5mm) at a minimum muzzle velocity of 600 feet per second."

Most cities have municipal codes that allow firing an air rifle as long as the pellet remains on your property.
