1911 all day for me. It's a better ergonomic design & my Colt has an amazing trigger. Just love the look and feel of it. But I do have a Taurus 40 S&W and a Springfield XD-9, so I don't hate plastic pistols either. Just never liked Glock much.

1911. Because God, John Browning, and .45.

Oh, and glocks suck.

For a short answer and a bit of humor-

I have both and like both, but carry a full size Les Baer SRP. Why?

1. I can reliably control my shots better with it than any other pistol I have tried through the years including other 1911's.

2. It is at least as reliable my G19 and more reliable than my G36.

3. Ergos are vastly better for me than the Glocks, which are Gen 3's.

4. Ran an informal test on feral pigs. 9mm ricocheted off of the skull. 45 ACP blew a big hole in the head.

5. The sight of a full sized 1911 cocked and locked inspires changes in plans of the person at the business end.

I will carry a Glock on rare occasions, and they have grown on me, but if I have to trust my or my wife's life to a pistol, the Les Baer is what I want in my hand.

1911 of course. why?

it was invented by an American Genius, it's been kicking *ss for over 100 years and still going strong and God Carries one.

the Block was invented by a foreigner, it's ugly, it's bulky and it's the first choice of mall ninjas.

I'd go 1911 as well. The grip angles on Glocks don't sit right with me for some reason. I've always thought 1911's are the prettiest pistols made.

You already have a fancy 1911 and you bought a glock

I have several 1911's and am looking at another one because I like them....like the way they feel in my hand...aiming is as natural and comfortable as pointing your finger.....I have a Bersa Thunder in .40 I use as a truck gun...love it for what it is...great value....

I have never liked Glocks, just don't....feel the same about the beretta 92f....I think they are a POC compared to a 1911....I was an armorer in an infantry company when we transitioned from 1911's to 92f's....they sucked then and they suck now...same as a glock...I will never own either... 2cents

I also like the fact that 1911's are the AR's of the pistol world.....you can configure/accessorize however you want from a stock inexpensive truck gun to a high end super target pistol....over 100 years of continued success for a reason...they are great and John Moses Browning's genius lives on thru every single one of them....

Guess I'll be the lone dissenter and choose Glock for everyday carry... A glock costs less, is reliable, and is a simple firearm. I don't need a light, match grade trigger on a carry gun, so the consistent trigger pull on the Glock works just fine for me.

The best of both worlds, 1911 style and hi-capacity mag's, the Browning Hi-Power for the win.

Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

1911 will always be my first choice. Comfortable, accurate, reliable and deadly. The Glocks that I have handled and shot just never felt right in my hand. Love a .45 acp, my every day carry is an XDS in .45 strictly for size and weight

Had variety of both, kept the full size 1911.
Glock 17 Gen4 was a nice shooter but I never could get comfortable carrying a loaded Glock due to lack of a hard safety.

I could never carry a $3k gun. The simple though of holster wear on the gun would freak me out...

Guns, like vehicles, are tools....don't understand people who buy tools then are afraid to use them as they were designed.... loco

EDIT: Just as nutz as all those fancy "duck hunters" who spend $100's/$1,000's on those fancy shotguns then are afraid to get them wet....really...frigin idiots..... rolleyes

Hell, why not go buy some big azz jacked up 1-ton 4x4 diesel RAM and run around town blowing smoke....don't bother to ever drag anything or even get it outside of the city limits unless you are on the interstate much less out n the mud and dirt.....

I still can't even believe you stooped so low as to even ask the question in the first place......SMDH! whip

For EDC, if I am in a life or death confrontation, what do I want in my hand at that very moment?

That is why I made that choice; I bought it to use it.

Demand and thus prices were considerably less then than now.

Nonetheless, even at today's cost it is a modest investment considering the role it plays.

+1 SW.

+1 on all counts.

Had a Glock model 21, in .45 ACP. It never felt as good in my hands, or was as ergonomic to shoot as Grandad's old 1911. So I sold it and bought a Springfield Operator.

Depends on intended use. For a battle sidearm I'd choose Glock, for everything else 1911

like Snakewrangler said it's just a tool. they're battle weapons that are meant to be used and while a lesser priced handgun can certainly get the job done I wouldn't hesitate to daily carry a Wilson, Nighthawk or any other high end 1911. $3000 is a pretty small price to pay for something that will protect you or your family's lives.

besides, holster wear can be a good look. grin

I have both and to me the answer always depends on purpose. If you tell me I had to have one and only one pistol, then glock for sure because it would have to work for me as a carry pistol. if the question is which one do I simply "like" more, then 1911.

A more appropriate questions seems to be, 1911 or any of the vast number of striker fired polmer pistols (glock, m&p, xd, etc.)

1911, been shooting one 1911 or another for well over 40 years and I'm used to them. A Glock just doesn't feel right in my hand.

jeffbird, I like that holster. What is it and where did you get it?
