Guys,
I purchased a rifle that already has threads for a muzzle break/suppressor. The thread is 5/8-24. What MB do you recommend? I am thinking that I just need to order and screw it on...am I missing something?
Thanks,

Apa little bastard or area 419 hellfire. Both are self timing for easy installs.

You can get an AR Stoner for $25 at midway.

What are you shooting? If you don't really need a brake that tames recoil look at linear comps. I have a Troy Claymore on my 300blk, really happy with it vs the birdcages on some of my other rifles.

What caliber?
I've been looking at this myself. Recoil on my Tikka CTR 6.5 creedmoor is mild, but the barrel jumps/rises just enough that it's hard to see hits/misses at distance. The self-timing options I've found so far:
Area 419 Hellfire - $160 and good reviews Little Bastard - $165 and good reviews MB&M Beast - $95 and good reviews

6.5 Creedmoor.
After having my custom rifle built with one on it and purchasing good hearing protection it is simply a blast to shoot. The recoil is like that of a .22.
I just purchased my third 6.5 Creedmoor. And I have my reasons so please no critiques.

Aero Precision Gamma, is both a brake and a muzzle rise reducer . Built for AR but I've put it on my friend's TIKKA CTR and he absolutely loved it

muzzle brake is great for shooting prairie dogs, enables you to see the hit.

Look at muzzlebrakesandmore.com two piece self timing 3 port brake for less than $100. They tested better than the APA little bastard brakes.

If you ever plan on using a suppressor then get the corresponding muzzle brake

A guy did an extensive series of testing and comparing several brakes. APA little bastard, fat bastard, Alamo four star ( now known as zero delta, they're out of Lubbock) and the JP recoil eliminator seem to make the top of the list in most categories. Here's a basic summary, but you can follow the links to each individual test. Pretty neat. http://precisionrifleblog.com/2015/07/17/muzzle-brake-recoil-reduction/

Stupid question - do you need one with ports on top to combat muzzle rise? Most seem to only have ports on the sides.

For $95 shipped, I just couldn't pay more for anything else. None of the big name self-timing options had top ports anyway, so it wasn't like I passed up on anything that would definitely fit me better. I'll report back next time I go shoot it. It'll probably be awhile.
