Not sure if I would pay that much as the older vx didn't impress me a ton but they are still decent.

I keep wondering why Leupold refuses to come up with a simple Mil or MOA reticle. P_102

Even though i like Leupold optics, I wouldn't give that one a second glance if I was looking for a general purpose hunting scope. For varminting, maybe.

For almost the same price you can get a VX-6.

I can't imagine a situation where I hunt where I would need a scope that goes to 20 power even in west TX

VX6 would be a better option, though quite a bit more money. You get 6x magnification range. 2-12x, 3-18x, 4-24x. Gives a better range of magnification for close up shots or longer range shots. Just my opinion, 6.5x on the low end is too much unless this is a dedicated long-range plains game setup.

Iv had a 3x9x40 gold ring on my main rifle forever... lover their scopes!
Also bought a $120 20power scope from walmart last year for a 22-250 lol one of my boys shot a doe at 100+ yards with it and dropped her in her tracks... thing actually has impressed me

I want a higher magnification scope with BDC turrets for my Barret Fieldcraft 6.5. It now has a 3-10 Swarovski. What ever I get needs to be light which means leupold or Swarovski. So I may sell the 3-10 and my Leupold 6.5 -20 and get the same Z-5, 5-25 I have on my McWhorter and order a custom turret.
unless, Leupold can add a BDC to the 6.5-20. I'll have to call their custom shop.

You get a free custom dial with the VX-6, good zero stop, and all reviews I've seen say if you give accurate data for the custom turret, it's spot on out to 600+ yards.

Buzz I'm ordering two scopes today for two new rifles and this scope is the one I'm planning on putting on my new 25-06. It's either the 6.5 x 20 x 40, or the 4.5 x 14 x 40. Was planning on putting the 4.5 x 14 on a new 22-250, and the the 6.5 x 20 on the 25-06. Might just put the 4.5 x 14 on both of them I dunno....
