I finally made the plunge and ordered a new Alpha 100 with 2 TT-15 collars and plan to get two more collars in December. Nothing wrong with the Astro 220 & DC-40 collars but looking forward to the new technology. And only carrying one remote!!! banana2

Ha, I'm right behind you thanks to pharmvet's post.

How big are your dogs. My is just under 45lbs. I was thinking about the mini. You lose quite a bit of function for 4 or 5ozs.

my dogs are from 40 - 55 lbs. Mine have been handling DC-40's mounted to my e collars (all on same collar) for years so this will be like having nothing on, to mine.

At 40 pounds are above, I would go with the regular size. Under 40, go with the mini (from my experience)

Gun's don't kill people. The Government does.

I killed eight gophers last year and a purebred Tennessee walking horse that was looking at me funny.

Second that. Longer battery life, better range on the larger collar. I have some minis I bought for puppies. My 45 lb. pointer now runs with a larger collar.

High roller bolt laugh

There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE

But it's kinda pricey.

Would also like to know about the holster have had the Alpha for some years now, do not trust the clip that come with it. The Alpha does give you piece of mind when a dog is out of sight, and if your hunting partner has one can track them also.

The watch links with handheld and shows distance and direction for the dog when on point. Really kind of handy and you don't have to keep referring to the handheld.

You do have to have the watch within a 50ft distance of the handheld though, it is synced up with it through Bluetooth.

Also, for everyone considering this or in the process of getting the Alpha, just know that it is definitely not designed for training purposes. The touchscreen takes a little bit to navigate making timely corrections a little bit difficult. I bought the Garmin 550 for training only.

So far I really like the holster. The brass snap is non swivel and keeps it in the correct position.

On the humpback...we have one or my son does. My brother gave it to him close to 30 years ago and it was old then. How old is yours?

This particular one is a Japanese made 20 ga. It was likely made in the 80's. I have had it for 3-4 years. It has some wear on it so I began using it because I odd not worry over a little scratch here and there. My dad got me an A5 20 ga back when I was about 12-13 (early 80's) it was new in the box ang got stolen out of my parents house while I was off at college. I have had several since 20,16,12, lt, std, mag, Belgian and Japanese. I love them all. They fit like a glove and I always get comments on them when I pull em out of the case.

Speaking of the Minis vs. Regular- I have all regular size and have tiny dog that I would like a mini for. If anyone has a mini they would like to trade for a regular size alpha collar, let me know.

Thanks
