So, i'm in Southern Menard county and will eventually have a high fence because I want a good herd of Axis, and quality whitetail. Now, I have a need for a half mile of fencing in the near term to close off my perimeter for cattle, and considering just biting the bullet now for that half mile of fence instead of doing four foot mesh / barbed wire, and then doing the same half mile later in high fence. Thought? pricing for game high fence vs 'traditional'?

Appreciate any thoughts, comments, opinions. and.... recommendations for high fence installer?

Thanks all...

I've got 195 acres purchased with two friends. If it were me making the decision I would go strait to the high fence option. Unfortunately they are delusional enough to think it's better to have a WT herd that can come and go as they please.

I say bite the bullet now.

Cheaper to do it now, then to pay for two fences, short T posts and then longer ones, and all your corners.

how about building the LF but use HF posts and corners, then can come back later and add the higher portion netting?

Ah man, that is going to cut off all those bucks I've been hunting along your fenceline!
Then I'll have to change my signature!

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

Do it now, if you got the scratch.

Half mile should be around $11-$12k, installed.

I'd do it in a heart beat, I'm tempted to go it on parts of my ranch but I don't think they will stay up due to winds and tumble weeds.
