My brother owns a Bowtech Tribute, and he is not able to bow hunt as much as he would like. I am considering buying it from him. I am new to hunting with a compoundbow. And don't plan to start this year. Few questions:

1. The bow is 10 years old or so. Are bows like shotguns, a good one lasts a life time or like a driver/fairway woods, where you need to up grade ever so often due to technology?

2. Any thoughts on this bow? Is it something worth investing in (considering family discount) or should I move on?

3. How often should bow strings be changed? And in general, what does the proper maintenance of a bow look like?

Thanks for the help in advance.
