Most of our higher classed bucks are in the 120's. I had pictures of a 9pt buck around 140" based on pics in 2012 that only one other person got pics of that I know of. He made it through the season because that other member found a pair of sheds 2 years later of what we can only assume was that deer based on the same frame and trash on his bases and he was a 10pt. No one that we know of got pics of him in 2013 and with those sheds he had to have made it through 2012 with very little pics and all of 2013 with no sightings.

Not sure what happened to him or if he is even still around so to answer the question yes I do believe people sometimes see a "bigfoot" if you will in areas that aren't used to them. But I would agree that most over exaggerate based on the situation and not being able to study that deer.

I hear this one all of the time, in varying degrees of size and points;
"you should have seen this axis, he was at least 4 feet tall and 14-16 points!!!"

On my lease, about any shooter seems to be the biggest. I just call them nice. At 400 yards they all seem the biggest and dissappear..

Half of what I hear is lies, the other half I don't believe and I ignore the rest.

Just like most first impressions when you see a buck on the road or just a glimpse in the pasture is "whoa, did you see that buck" but almost every time ive gotten a better look it turns out to be some cabbage head 8 etc. nothing to write home about, but the mind makes them into mountains with just a glimpse.
Or when someone says I was driving down the interstate and had a big ole 12 point run right in front of me and jump a fence, biggest buck ive ever seen. Well how the hell did you count the points while driving 75 and having it running full speed in front of you? LOL

It seems like every story is a big 12 pt or a big 14 pt., I've guided for 20+ years and never have seen typical 6x6 or 7x7 in LF. but seems like lots of others have.

Our lease is off a FM road, and my Nephew who is on the lease works with a guy who travels that FM road every day back and forth to work.
He told my nephew that before last season, he saw the biggest buck he's ever seen in the field across from our lease.
Just like the OP mentioned, the first thought you have is what is the biggest he's ever seen mean?
You then figure in the guy lives out there, and has grown up in the area, and then you kind of have to weigh in on what the biggest buck you've seen on the place.
In our case, that would mean somewhere in the 150+ range, but in reality not knowing the guys ability to judge an animal, you would be safe to say it was a nice buck, worth watching out for.

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

I take it to mean that person is trying to persuade me to hunt there because he knows there are no deer at all over there and he wants to keep his place secret/private.. Want to shut a deer hunter up? Ask him where his honey hole is.
