Same thing happened to me, but fortunately we caught it in time. My son popped the GFCI that the freezer is plugged into in my garage when he cut the extension cord while trimming hedge.

I noticed water and checked it out...didn't lose any meat but it was getting warm. I have venison, ducks and a deer head in that freezer. I'm going to look into the freezer alarm. Thanks for the post.
