Has anyone hunted Inks Lake/ Longhorn Caverns SP the last couple of years on the TPWD drawn hunt? If so how did you do and what did you see?

Went on an antlerless hunt a few years back. This was the first year they started using feeders (had three then, think they have them everywhere now). Saw a cull type buck the first evening. Saw a nice 8 the second day. Drove to within 6-8 feet of a doe in the park (not the hunting area). There are a good number of deer there and the staff is great. They drive you to-from the blinds and really try to put you on game. It was during a cold front with rain when I was there and the final take was about 11 or so does for 20 hunters.

Was drawn couple years ago and came down with "walking pneumonia" and called the Hunt Mger to offer him my permit for someone else. Had a nice chat and talked about what all was available and how the Hunt was conducted...and I've put in for the Hunt every year since based on that warm friendly & professional conversation ....just not very many Exotics taken most years though despite enough foreign critters on other places around them to expect a few.

IMO I'd stay in the campground or in Burnet...Have a good Hunt and take enough coolers to get 'em all home.

I have, shot a nice 8 and a doe, my buddy also shot a tall 8...my brother saw a monster but no shot. One of the best hunts out there!!! They will do everything to get you on deer!

I was drawn and hunted last year. I think 8 hunters, 6 got deer, I did not. Very good operation, you are driven to/from the blinds for every hunt and there are feeders running at every location. Stay away from "the bird blind", I hunted that the 2nd morning and it is what is says, a bird blind. As soon as feeder went off there were 200 birds under the feeder. Had one evening hunt ruined by a coyote. They will work hard to get you a deer and will move you if you aren't seeing anything.
