Beretta customer service is a PITA to deal with

I dealt with them once on a shotgun, very painless. I would think on a simple manner like a new magazine it would be quick and easy.

If I can fix it myself, that's always option 1.

Update: I think I have it fixed. At first I pulled it apart, smoothed off the edges of the follower and lightly oiled the inside. That seemed to provide a little improvement, but didn't fix the issue. Pulled it apart again and noticed that the spring had a small upwards bend in it just past the last big bend. Figured out that it would cause the type of issue I'm seeing, so I bent it back the other way. Cycled the mag through 5 times with zero failure-to-feed issues. Was getting at least one every other mag before. It is also much more normal to load now. Before the rounds would tip really easily like there was no pressure on the back of the case. But now the back end is held up correctly and the next round slides in much easier.

I either had 5 lucky runs or it is fixed. I think it's good. If it's not, Beretta CS will be getting a phone call and hopefully they can help.

One other note - when re-assembling, the best way I found to do it to avoid putting that bend back in the spring was to put the spring in the mag in its entirety without the follower and just pull out half of the top tab. Start inserting the follower and slide the top tab in the slot on the bottom of the follower and slowly continue to put the follower in. When it's about 2/3 of the way in, use a pick or something on the end of the follower that's in the mag to nudge the spring forward to "lock" the upper tab into place on the follower. Then finish inserting the follower and you're done. But if you don't lock that tab in place, I don't think the mag will work right.

Hopefully that's all there is to it. Can't say enough about how much I like the gun. I don't mind being a home/DIY gunsmith for small stuff like this, but I wouldn't have been thrilled if it would've been difficult to fix given the price of the rifle. Fortunately, I don't have to worry about it.

I'll try to post pictures tomorrow. I didn't take any (stupid I know), but I'll try to find pictures of a disassembled mag and mark them up for you guys.

Blue line is the spring. Red arrow points at the bend I had to take out. I actually went just a hair past flat. I wanted the spring to be level so the follower was forced to move up and down in a level orientation.

Needed half the forum to make sure I wasn't crazy and figure out how to get the mag apart, but we got 'er done anyway. Thanks for the help guys! Hopefully the pictures help anyone else who might be having the same issue.
