Which would you get/build and why?

I've been wanting a "pdw" type weapon for a while and I love the way the Scropion looks. With the KAK brace on it and side folder it makes it very attractive in price and function, however 9mm doesn't really have that much power compared to the 300BLK. With the 300BLK could shoot big 220GR subs suppressed for home defense but switch mags and instantly go super sonic out to 150-200 yards.

These are the pros and cons I've see with both.

I already shoot 9mm and 300BLK so that doesn't need to be taken into consideration

AR15 8" 300BLK Pros: $875
A lot more power compared to the 9mm
Being able to switch between supers/subs
I already own 2 30cal suppressors
Already have a lot of mags

AR15 8" 300BLK Cons:
Non side folder unless you buy the adapter for mucho mullah
Already have a 8" 300BLK SBR but its setup for hog hunting (night vision)
Expensive ammo


Scorpion Pros: $850
Really good design for suppressing
Side charger
cheap mags
Side folder
Really cheap ammo

Scorpion Cons:
9mm
Would need a pistol suppressor (which I already want)
Have read the trigger is meh
Not a great aftermarket yet, but it seems to be building

I have a requirement that all of the guns I am actually going to invest a good bit of money into (over $500) have to have a practical purpose. I am not saying that a 9mm carbine doesn't have a practical purpose but a 300Blk SBR just offers more performance in almost every category.

With 110gr TSX that would be quite a handy home defense gun. Also Chad's subsonics make it much more affordable.

That's kind of where I am right now. The 300BLK makes so much more sense, but the scorpion would probably be really really fun

Yes, all my 300BLK ammo comes from Chad.

Ya, the scorpion does look pretty sweet and would be a lot of fun but if I am going to plink and burn ammo I am doing it with .22lr.

I would go with the 300Blk especially since you already have 2 30cal cans or build a new gun for night vision hog set up and use your current 8" 300Blk as your PDW.

I'd go 300 blk out also. Unless you just want to plink a lot with it, go 9mm. One of the guys on the lease has an SBR AR-15 in 9mm. We'll plink with it, but that's it. He shot a small boar multiple times, and we never recovered it. I've never been a fan of the 9mm round.

Another vote for 300blk. Especially since you have a suppressor.

I don't think it gets much more practical for a PDW than a 8" 300blk SBR with a side folding adaptor.

That's actually a really good idea. I have 16" 308AR sitting in the safe collecting dust. That way all I need is an optic for my SBR and it's pretty much ready to go.
