Brother and I are beginning our search for a 2018 reasonably priced out of state hunt. Have not decided what or where we want to hunt. Do any of your recommend a specific hunt? If possible, please provide specie, state and outfitter. Thanks in advance! Adam

Pronghorn hunt in New Mexico or Wyoming is always a great first out of state hunt. Low pressure, high success rate, and a fun hunt. Also reasonably priced. Lots of choices on areas and outfitters.
OTC or general tag elk or mule deer hunts in CO or WY also an option. Much tougher hunt from both a success rate and physical standpoint. Beautiful country.
Another step up is DIY moose hunt in AK. Very physical, do your homework, and be prepared for lots of ups and downs with the weather. Success largely depends on your research in finding a good area. Lots of work involved if you get one down. Not a hunt to be taken lightly. Reasonable cost for the adventure you get in return.
AK DIY caribou is an option a lot of my buddies do quite often also.
There are lots of other options I'm sure others will post up.

Buy some PP for Wyoming now and have a chance at deer, elk, or antelope with 1 PP next year. Additional cow/calf elk tags take no PP and are random draw, cheap for an elk tag also. All can be done DIY.

I always enjoyed the deer hunts in Kansas and Oklahoma. Not the most scenic or exotic places, but the local were always topnotch. This was ages ago, as in 18 or more years, so the situation may have changed some. In Kansas we also always made time for pheasant and ducks.

I'm not sure exactly where or what you want to hunt but we have a couple different options available. Either way best of luck in your adventures. www.huntsd.net

I 2nd the Wyoming antelope. Get doe tags if possible too ... they're cheap. That was one of my first out of state hunts. Had a blast, no outfitter necessary to find them, taste great.

Thank you for the input. Other than Texas whitetails I've also harvested a Texas muley and pronghorn. Going on an NM elk hunt next month. I would like to go after something different but I am certainly not against hunting any of these again. Just want a good out of state experience.

How about out of country? 2 day drive to get on some good bear hunting with a bunch of walleye fishing thrown in. I do not have any experience with outfitters as all my hunts are DIY but I have heard good things about these guys: http://www.blackbearadventure.com/article/ontario-black-bear-hunting-rates-and-information-122.asp

Bear hunting is a great idea. Even outfitted bear hunts won't break the bank. For a little more a Newfoundland moose hunt is a relative bargain for the adventure too.

No have never done that hunt or researched them. Just know from various forums it's a great hunt. Might start with Cabela's Worldwide Adventures and go from there. Will at least give you an idea on prices.

Look into sitka blacktails on Prince of Wales Island in Alaska. Fun hunt, fairly inexpensive, great scenery. largest expense is airfare to Ketchikan, then take a ferry over to island. Tags are ~$150, were able to shoot 3 (not sure what it is now). Either rent a lodge/cabin or rent a forest service cabin. Plenty of supplies on the island. Have to rent a truck unless you rent a lodge that provides one.

Any Newfoundland outfitter recommendations? Ocean Side Country Lodge. Go during the rut. We hunted last year opening week of firearm and was hot. Hazen and his wife are topnotch people. People in Newfoundland are down to earth. Toronto sucks though going through customs. They made sure 6 of us missed our next flight. Three on one flight ,two on another and one from New York.

Toronto sucks though going through customs Agree with that 100%. Not just customs either. I love Canada but like anything there are always things that suck about a country and as far as Canada is concerned they are all concentrated in Toronto. OP if you decide to hunt in Newfoundland or somewhere else in Canada make sure your point of entry does not involve Toronto (try to enter through Halifax). Newfs on the other hand are some of the best people you will ever meet.

Thank you all!
Mouflonman, did you hunt moose, bear or caribou in Newfoundland? Would love to hear more details if you don't mind. Got any pictures? Feel free to pm me, call or text 254-379-3618. Thanks again.

I did an outfitted bear hunt last month in New Mexico with cmoehring on this forum. Chris did a great job, and NE New Mexico was a lot closer than Alaska or Newfoundland.
