Are any of you running Lupua? Have any of you ran Hornady and switched to Lapua? If so what has been the difference?

Biggest difference is smalle primer. Most creed rifle are set for large primer

Thanks Cleric, this I know. I'm just wondering about pressure differences and MV differences if someone has switched brass.

I'm shooting H-4350 with 42.0 grains using Berger 140s with CCI primers running 2750 fps out of Hornady brass out of my Custom 6.5 CM w/27" barrel. I've ordered another lighter 6.5 CM for hunting with a 21 inch barrel and I'm going to be using Lapua brass, CCI 450 primers, A-Max 140s with H-4350 powder.

I have 500 A-Max so I'm going to shoot them first and then most likely will go with 143 ELDs.

My dad switched from Hornady to Lapua in his 6.5 CM. You'll hit pressure a little earlier in the Lapua brass as it's thicker (less volume) than the Hornady. His standard load in Hornady brass was showing ejector marks, swipes and sticky bolt lift with Lapua. Backed it off a few tenths, and all is well. I had heard somewhere that the small primer brass, ie: 6.5x47, had a tendency to hide signs of pressure. This was not the case for us. We both had the same load with Hornady brass, and I had pushed mine a fair bit past that without trouble in the Hornady brass. YMMV. Your load of 42 gr shouldn't be an issue though, depending on how your lot of powder runs.

Hornady brass, 42.4 gr H-4350, 140 gr ELD-M = 2800 fps MV, es of 13. Brass is about to have 7 loadings on it, having been annealed every two firings.

It ain't broke, so I've not tried to fix it.

While my data is not for 6.5 Creedmoor ammo I took Lapua 6.5 brass down to 22 Creedmoor and just to be safe lowered my charge. Ended up working back to my normal charge with almost exact velocity as I had with Hornady 6mm brass that I previously used. FWIW
