I don't currently have a gun cabinet. A wood/glass old school one. Been thinking of picking one up off craigslist.

I think it would be cool to redo and put a modern feel to it, modern paint instead of stain. I saw a nice two tone one once.

Has anyone done this?

I'm not a wood or crafty person, was thinking of wiping down with some sort of stripping liquid and then hitting it with primer and paint. Am I missing something? Sounds pretty simple.

PS. This will just go in my closet, and yes I know it is not very secure.

I "repurposed" a wood stand up cabinet, vestibule or whatever a few months back, notched the shelves for my rifles and lined with some red felt and painted it brown on the outside, left it stained inside. It turned out nice but i burned it along with all the other wood that Harvey destroyed in my house, I'm looking to build one to replace it, i just sanded the outside and 2 coats of primer followed up with quality paint

They have a wide selection of locks for cabinets, my grandchildren couldn't get into mine.

I have been considering this myself. At the moment I just have my guns on my bedroom floor inside their cases. Wife is pregnant, so I definitely need to figure something out and get them inside something! I am going to check out Goodwill and other places to see if I can find a "good/cheap" cabinet that I can utilize for this. Checking out home depot, it should be to easy to get a lock and just install it on the cabinet. Hopefully I can get something picked and built by the end of this coming week!

Look for staining around the stocks when you store your guns upright.

Nothing too fancy, just got a cabinet from ikea....drilled a few holes for the guns that I own. Need to fix the holes up add some fabric and add a lock on the gun side...Definitely not a safe or anything, just to keep the soon to be daughter out when she gets old enough.

He's probably some kind of pit mix that they lied about so they didn't have to put down. Been meaning to do one of those dna tests and find out what he actually is.

Finally got the lock on, but it looks terrible. So much random tweaking I have to do to make this thing 'functional'. I guess thats what I get for going with swedish crap. Next time I will just have to look harder at what I'm going to use.
