I posted a question in regards to a UTV not fitting in my garage while on a trailer.

Someone responded with some clamp type things, but did not elaborate.

Is it possible to take a UTV, Polaris Ranger for example, add these to the tubing and be able to freely remove and install the top portion, relatively easily??????????

I would think those would work fine ... my wake boat tower has similar so we can fold the tower down to put in the garage. Ours has the large plastic thumb wheels for quick removal on each side. If you can find a reputable welder, they should be able to cut the existing roll cage, weld in the clamping mechanism and good to go.

does your roll cage really stick up much higher than the roof on your ranger? My Kubota RTV is only slightly higher than the roof and barely fits under our 7' garage door with only about 3 inches to spare. I built a high rack for it based on the garage door height so I could put it inside while at home.

Yes, even for someone from Alabama. smile It's not flip a switch, but it's also not all the other gymnastics some folks were suggesting. Buy one and look it over.

There's not much to explain, you section them in where you want the cage to detach. Measure twice, cut once. They're very common in strip/race cars to get at various components on the car.

If they use them on race cars, I can't see an issue with a UTV. It's not just a simple clamp.

yes, I understand it will be high since it's sitting on a trailer ... but, does the roll bar stick up much higher than the roof? or is the roll cage what the roof attaches too? (that might make more sense with your answer hammer)

Something like this perhaps:
Trail Gear Interlocking Tube Clamps

This should work and keep most of the structural integrity.
Problem is you have to unbolt, remove AND store your roll cage somewhere.
And then you are going to have to have a helper to put it back on.

If you live somewhere that you can't leave trailer outside due to HOA restrictions or high theft area, then it's easier to understand why you want to do this.

I did section a roll cage on a Mule for a customer a few years back for same reason.
We basically lowered the cage 5.5" and he still had 2-3" of head room.
I have pics on my computer somewhere and will try to post pic.

That's the product I posted in the original thread.
