I was supposed to go this weekend to take care of the last remaining items on my list but when I saw how nice the weather was going to be this past weekend I decided to go a week early. I'm glad I did. I got there friday evening and first thing I did was get our mattress into the cabin. I got up early Sat morning and got in the stand before daylight. It was a beautiful morning both with the weather and with the deer I saw. I saw over 20 deer while sitting in my blind and two were mature eight points. Since it was so nice I decided to stay thru Sunday. On Sunday morning I saw at least 15 deer. Unfortunately the batteries were dead in my game cams so I didn't have any photos from the last three weeks. Oh, and one of the mature eights was still in full velvet. He was the largest bodied buck I saw. I got everything I'd planned on getting done plus a couple of more.

Great therapy no doubt.

Nice, I'm ready for the weather to cool down a bit.

Set up my popup bow blind yesterday but still need to do a little light trimming.
Looks like a poor acorn crop this year so the deer should be really hitting the corn feeders.
Our best year for mature bucks early during the archery season was when there wasn't many acorns, so looks like it should be good early season for a big buck.
The really good news is they won't be all broken up from fighting.

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

I had set my pop up bow stand the last time I was here and the feeder I set it up to hunt turned from being the best to the worst! It has really messed them up. Hopefully in a couple of more weeks they will have settled down. It will be up a little more than a month and a half by the time the season starts.

I've gotta admit the cooler weather really helped get me in the hunting mood/mindset!
