Well we got our New Puppy... have been looking for a long time and finally out of the blue we got a call for an available Male with great breeding... 10 weeks old... Brought him home yesterday. I'm inclined to follow the positive training method my ducks unlimited friend uses... but I'm looking for advice.... clicker training..., what's a good routine to start with... any recommended videos or other input would be appreciated.... I love hunting over this breed for upland birds.... Pup can retrieve already and is a nice example of the breed.
Please give me your thoughts and input

Just take him hunting. Teach him obedience and take him hunting. Pretty simple. My buster is as natural as they come.

Beautiful pup! My Millie is the smartest dog in my kennel. I started working with her immediately, and we would ride around on a golf cart. Watch the doves congregate in the evening at waterholes, and I would sic her on them. She loved the game. I would whisper to her, "Get those birds!" and she would squeal with excitement until I released her collar, and let her fly off the seat and chase the doves. She is a bird finding fool! Oh, by the way, Millie is a b/w engish cocker. Keep us informed on Brody's progress.

My method is to make the dog believe that training is a game while they are young. Start with simple things. Teach obedience, whistle commands and go easy on the retrieving, make it a reward.

Were you able to find a positive trainer? Or did you end up training your pup by yourself? I have the exact same breed as you and looking for advice!
