Mom said she wants me to find her a pistol in .22 WMR for her to carry in her purse. What pistol do you recommend for me to get her? I wish she would at least go with a .380 but she wants almost zero recoil or nothing and we all know something (.22 WMR) is better than nothing. I have my eye on a couple, just want some opinions.

Smith and Wesson 351PD. Not cheap but I like the feel of this gun.

S&W makes several double action revolvers that will work for the stated purpose. Like you said it is not my first choice but beats nothing by a long ways.

Ruger LCR is another.

That's a pretty good idea. Don't have to worry about anything except pulling the trigger. Rimfires are known for having bad rounds. With a revolver, you just pull the trigger again to go past a bad round. The downside is limited capacity and reloading. You might consider getting two of them: one in a 22 to practice with and then a 38 spl to carry.

It is far more important to be able to hit the target than it is to haggle over who makes a weapon or who pulls a trigger.

My opinion. Take her somewhere where you can rent guns and let her try them out. I tried to buy my wife guns twice and she hated both of them. Once she picked her gun she was happy.

Have her try on a Walther pk380, Very easy to rack the slide and I hear not much more recoil if any than a .22. I am told that most women relay like them, My wife on the other hand with small hands could not operate the fire arm comfortably.

Thank You

Ruger LC. Just bought my wife a LC9s and I am pretty happy with it. My wife is too.

22WMR limits your choice. S&W is costly and only a couple of models have 2" barrels.

Ruger LCR has a stout trigger. Many women do not have the index finger strength. Plus the DA makes it difficult to be accurate with trigger issue.

Might get a Taurus or Charter Arms, both have/had models with 2" barrels.

x2 My wife is recoil shy and loves her pk380. It was the easiest for her to rack the slide out of all of the handguns she tried.

That's the way to do it.

Went through the same thing with my wife and she decided on going in whole different direction than I would have bet on!

Have you considered sizing it for her ? What's her build , tall/short , small hands/large hands ?? How is she physically fit , strong/weak , age ? Is she strong will or a bit on the nervous side ? Take all these into consideration . Just because she wants a .22 with no recoil it's hard to find a .22 in a small frame . Ruger has a new one out SR22 : http://www.ruger.com/products/sr22Pistol/specSheets/3630.html . Has a 3.5" barrel which is still not to small at 17.5oz but it maybe easy for her to handle but needs a purse to carry without it causing a problem . Then you might consider the smaller LCP .380 weighting in at just 9.6oz with a 2.75" barrel and that is extremely easy to carry/conceal . Really easy to shoot also : http://www.ruger.com/products/lcp/specSheets/3741.html . Myself I CCW a LC9s with a 3.12" barrel weighting in at 17.2oz and very easy also to carry and conceal . Got a little pop to it but when your in a situation pop wont matter : http://www.ruger.com/products/lc9s/specSheets/3252.html . The pop from a .22 is just as loud or louder than my LC9s' is . Like I say , fit her to a CCW and if possible let her shoot one . If you have a gun range close by they usually rent some out and see if they have one you can rent . Also remember carrying in her purse wont help her if someone is trying to steal her purse or harm her unless she is physically fit to handle such a situation . Good luck pairing her to the right gun !

I wouldn't want to get hit with a rubber band gun, so a .22 WMR pointed at my head would leave me screaming for Mommy. Agree with the others. Take her to a range where she can try different revolvers. Also hope you can talk her out of carrying in a purse.

Please let her know there are plenty of pretty bra holster's available.

Good luck and keep us posted!
