Random question, but when hunting and moving through narrow paths with your dog, sometimes there's not enough room for them to heal @ the side. Do you have you dog lead or follow? Is there a command that is used for this? If so, how do you teach it?

Mine are always to the front. I don't understand the question.

Kruzie96, You can teach your dog to follow you if that's what you need it to do. You would teach it the same as heel except a different position and command. You can use whatever word you want for the command. I'm guessing you will also want a hand signal for running silent. But when your dog is following you, you might be hunting, but it is not.

It depends if we are searching for something or sneaking up on something to shoot it. It is easy to teach a smart dog.

thanx guys...I have a lab and he knows heel (on my side) and release (do what you want). This isn't either of those. This would preferably be, walk in front of me, but don't take off (although following behind would probably work too). Mostly needing getting into blinds.

When loading into truck, kennel, blind, I use the command "kennel", and point to where I want them to go. Some people use the word place.

Just release him from heel, and let him walk in front of you.
