Anyone hunt squirrels with dogs? I'm just now getting into it and find it to be a blast! It doesn't seem like many people hunt squirrels and especially hunt them with dogs anymore.

That's an awesome looking tree rat dog. I love me some fried squirrel and brown gravy.

He's a 10 month old rat terrier named Tippy. He's been treeing for about 5 months and he's got me fired up about squirrel hunting in the Fall!

Told my wife he is what we used to call feist dogs aka rat terriers. Tough as boot leather. I like Toby!

Good looking Rat Terrier. I looking into the Cur breeds years ago, but never did get one. I do enjoy Squirrel hunting. Back when I did night hunts one of my Walker Hounds did double duty by day for Squirrel hunting. The Walker would range, but my Vizsla hunts them more like I assume your rat dog does circling trees and staying in close. I have some squirrel hunting planned just this weekend as a side hunt from Dove hunting.

It does seem that rat terrier and feist can often be used interchangeably. Tippy hunts within 100 yards of me and usually inside 50 yards. He can tree by sight, scent, and hearing. He's also pretty good at jumping rabbits, but it's hard to get a shot when he's on their tails!

I've run squirrel dogs for most of the last thirty years and have never gotten tired of it. I've had everything from the little feists and terriers to large curs and hounds that loved to tree 'em. Congratulations on having a good one. My Granddad had a little black and white dog named Tippy, so that made your post even better.
