In Red River around the Bogata area. Past few years have been great, However last year I saw more hunters in this county then I have ever seen. To give you an idea, the processor I normally use was a little overwhelmed last year and it seemed to take forever to get my deer back. I terms of population, have a few smaller bodied bucks this year, none of them look close to maturity. Doe Population seems to have dropped off a bit as well. Haven't seen anything stomping around yet that I'd like to go after, which is a big change from the past few years.

We are near Clarksville and very few bucks this year. Maybe they have changed patterns due to lot of water.

Typical stuff so far for us in North Red River county. Young bucks with good genetics and does at feeders but some good looking bucks on game trails and food plots which is a nice change of pace. Finally starting to see the 6 going on 7 years of managing for mature bucks is starting to pay off.

I have a lease 30 minutes NE of Clarlsville. The water this year has them all screwed up as far as normal travel trails. Seeing more hogs than deer right now. We do have some of everything as far as maturity. Does and fawns look pretty good if the yotes don't get them. Normal bucks are from 100 to 125 from what I have seen. Biggest thing is a lot of the place that I had feeders are still under water or mushy ground so feeder legs sink in the ground and pigs knock them over. Also under brush took over without being able to brush hogg some areas because of being so wet.

This wet summer has been hell trying to run a brush hog and keep everything under control.

This wet summer has been hell trying to run a brush hog and keep everything under control. I have pics on camera in turkey season where everything looks great. Then 2 months later weeds are 6 feet tall. It was so bad in one area that I could not find my trail to a feeder. I was driving on my 4 wheeler and the grass was 2 feet above me and I could not see anything. It was partially logged last year and there is a lot of timber that was left on the ground with the stumps. It will be literally impossible to brush hog without destroying something. Maybe need to do aerial spraying first, haha.

The hogs I've had on camera have all big lone boars, no sounders. Everywhere else I have hunted has always had big sounders.

I have seen at lest 2 boars on cameras that look like feeder calves. They are huge, already destroyed 3 different feeders.

Well looks like I am going to make it out this Friday to start trying to shred and check cameras. We have been getting a lot of lone boar photos as well. Sure beats the alternative of big sows with 100 piglets running around although last week I saw a sow with 6 of the smallest piglets Ive seen.

Got out there and was on the tractor all day Saturday and half day Sunday and still not done, but was pleasantly surprised by the camera pictures. Quite a few bucks even a couple that will now make the hit list. Things are looking up in our neck of the woods even saw a group of turkey I haven't seen since the hogs moved in.

Anynone notice crime out there? an office buddy said it's pretty bad there. But I figured most places in the country can have lots of small petty crime.

We got held up at another lease so I could not check my cameras last weekend. I may run out there and pull cards tomorrow if my partner is not going out. I apologize for for the delay.

How are things looking for ya'll in Red River County this year? I was out at my place a couple of weeks ago, mostly doe and young bucks on camera. Looks like lots of rain heading in over the next week or so.

I have no idea what we’re looking at. Loggers have taken most of the property and have two weeks left before they have to pull out. There is maybe 200 acres left that isn’t logged but thy can do a lot of damage in two weeks. Fortunately we have a large creek (pecan bayou) that runs through the property and it has hardwoods in both sides of it. I’ve always hunted within a 100 yards of the hardwoods anyway so I’m hoping it’s going to be a positive since I can do some decent food plots and can see forever down the edge of the oaks. We’re also about 10 miles NW of Clarksville or NE of Detroit. That’s a big property around 15,000 acres cut in to leases. We have 588 acres.
CRIME! Just had a nice camper stolen from one of our members a few weeks ago and have gave up on more expensive game cameras since I can’t seem to keep them.

I sold a neighbor 100 acres near 'White rock', just north of Clarksville. He had his trailer set on fire and a brand new tractor with front end loader stolen a few years ago. Lots of game but lots of criminals too.
Life is too short, as is. Don't chance it. Don't text and drive.

According to the census Red River county has the lowest average income in the eastern half of Tx. I think the two economies there are timber and meth. my Camper stays unlocked now and I leave nothing of value in it. They broke in when the stole the other one. Turned everything upside down. Guess they didn’t want the coffee pot or crock pot. They did take an old game camera that didn’t work.
