Bought some property and will need a snake gun until we tame it a little. Mossberg Shockwave or Taurus Public Defender?
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

"Warned Dead or Alive" gun with snake shot. Or the "Judge" with rat shot?

I have used several, really like the TC Contender in 410, better patterns than the others but rat shot fro 22, 38, 357, 9mm, 45acp 44 spcl and 44 mag have worked well as has the Tarus Judge

Taurus Judge. Took 13 rattlers the first year I had mine.

Rifles are similar to boats and young women...there's no end to how much money you can pour into them without making them any more useful.

I have a "snake charmer" and I have the Taurus judge. Both do the job just fine but the judge on your belt IS the way to go!!!

look at the bond arms as well.. Bond Arms, made in Texas. Are you killing rattlers and copperheads only, or all snakes? Keep in mind snakes eat rats and if you have a structure on the place (house, trailer, shed for tractor) you will have rats in it at some point. Rats chew wires on tractors/riding mowers and create huge headaches. I quit shooting snakes because of this problem. Did I mention I hate rats?

I have a good friend that is avid arrowhead hunter is South Texas. He has carried all kind so of pistols to ward off rattlers. He has finally found the ultimate solution, so he claims. He carries one of those ultralight LCR snub .38 SCPL with a laser & uses shotshells. Put the laser dot on their head & BAM, now they're a belt!

Most snakes on eat a few times a month. It's not like they just go around eating every rat they see.

I've had the snake charmer, a 20ga coach gun, the Judge, and now the S&W Governor. To me, the Governor was worth the extra money over the Judge.

I have Bond Snake Slayer . It is easy to carry and does the job, but a whip (imho) to shoot often. Grip is small and it packs a pretty good wallop. I know they make a larger grip, but I haven't gotten around to ordering.
Anytime someone visits and wants to shoot, I invite them to take a turn on the Bond. No one has yet requested more shells for a second pass.

Love my Judge Poly. But I am looking for an old school Stainless snakecharmer just because my grandfather had one when I was a kid and I thought it was cool because it was little and I could shoot it good. He was actually a Step grandfather but the only one I had after about 3-4, but my grandmother eventually divorced him so I didn't inherit the gun. If you know of a shop with one, let me know.
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.
