When does antler growth usually stop in Texas? Meaning does antler growth stop in May, June or earlier in the year.

For whitetail deer about now, but that depends on the bucks.

Yeah, most antler growth is done around mid august and most deer I have seen shed velvet around late august to early September. Could depend on your location and certain bucks will shed earlier or later than normal but that seems to be the average for north Texas that I have seen.

Saw deer in central Texas start rubbing out on Sunday. Our deer near Laredo haven't started rubbing yet, but their growth is pretty much finished.

All of my bucks are still in velvet in Smith County. I see the most growth in June and July. Haven't seen much, if any, growth in the last 3-4 weeks.

Nearly all of my bucks are still in velvet according to my cameras, but we did see a very small 8pt the other day already hard horned.

Honestly? Base to tips mid August. I feel and have studied that circumfrences, mass, and density come in play layer ? That's the hidden secret. Circumfrences/mass is fullfilled all the way to a few days before the velvet dries and begins to loosten. Density? Also a form of weight. I am a firm believer that a buck's internal antler density is not complete till the hormones kick in about early October. That's my study. Take it how you like it. I have studied all forms of antler growth and the strongest heaviest filled out finalized package is early october. Nice and polished up too.
Recently got a gym membership, strange folks! I like to show up the roid zombies with my full motion curls with the 55lb. bells. Not their cheater short stroked light weights. It's holarious.

The bucks in east tx. are shedding right now. I have seen several out of velvet already. The internal density in my mind is still being fullfilled till October.

In Stephens County I have seen two small 2.5 year old 8 points that are hard horned as of a few days ago. All the rest are still in velvet
