I'm hearing tons of gun fire in my area. My guess is its poor shooting as there were only a few local birds in my area.

Didn't limit but my buddy shot a dove band. Shot a few birds and had some fun. Maybe we'll be luckier tomorrow if we don't use 28ga.

My opening morning was measured on how many smiles I saw on my son's first dove hunt. This young man was over the moon excited. Managed to bag 3 doves this morning. I could not have been happier.

If I shot better I would have had a limit by 8am. After cleaning them found out why. I was leading them too far not one bird hit in the breast. I got 11 nephew got 12 and brother got a limit. I'll go back in the morning.

Not the best of reports from me up in Palo Pinto county. There sure was a lot of shooting going on in the fields around me, I just wasn't set in the right place. First time in this field. Back out tomorrow and know where to set up I think. Best of luck to you hunters and be safe.

We hunted south of Haskell. Birds flew great early this morning for about an hour and a half then pretty much disappeared. Not nearly as many on this spot as there has been the last two years.

but that's hunting.

We saw very little action west of Abilene near Tye.

No limit, but as many as I could muster this evening. I had the opportunity to limit out, just not the ability. I dropped a double on the collared dove but I only found one of them. bang I'll be back on them in the morning.

Some guys that stayed to drink beer said is was almost 20 min after sundown before they flew to the roost

Saturday looked like the end of the season normally in Woodson. Birds were all but gone. Come on northern birds!

Shot about 10 times today. At least yesterday was a learning experience with my new Remington Versa-Max. Love this gun. Yesterday I could not hit the broadside of a barn. Today much better when I cut in half how much I was leading them. Buster is mad we didn't get more. Those ears are getting trimmed too. Must have picked out 25 cuckle burrs today. He never loses a bird. Love this dog! I actually had 5 birds but knocked one off setting him up.

We are going Crappie Fishing tomorrow.

Hunting near Woodson/Throckmorton Friday, killed 12 in the morning, finished limit in the afternoon. Like Bobcat said, they flew great in the morning, afternoon was very spotty. My buddy got a sinus infection and we came home this morning.

Love the Benelli SBE III, I'll keep her. I'll put up some pictures later

Second day wasn't great for hunting, but you can't beat the scenery.

I got one.
I live in town but 1/4 mile away is a large dairy and hunters are there. A collared dove was wounded and made it to my yard. I chased it into a corner, finished it and threw it to the neighbor's dog.
One dove doesn't make a meal.
