Of the seven pups that I have from the surgical insemination of Yuma, I have two with blue left eyes. Four of them have cowlicks which I have seen in my dogs in the past as my old Daisy female had this trait and passed it on to her offspring. There are 6 females and one male and one of the females that my wife has fallen in love with has a blue eye and a cowlick. The male that I made the cross for has a blue eye but no cowlick on his neck.
From what I understand, the bluetick breed originated from the English breed and most trail hounds came from primarily foxhounds. One of the foxhound breeds from the early 1900's used in the genetic make up was the Goodman hound and the Goodmans were known for having the blue eyes.
While these pups have excellent confirmation, none of them will ever be shown on the bench as all are going to lion hunters in MT, UT and West Texas. I am sure that most dog judges would run backwards if they saw a blue eyed bluetick today.
