At the beginning of July, our lease chipped in and paid to build, deliver, and set-up 4 deer blinds. I had seen the guy's name and website on this message board and it seemed like a good idea so I spoke with him over the phone, and he sounded like a pretty decent guy. That being said, I sent him our deposit overnight so that he would have our money to buy materials and get started. It has been 16 weeks now and we have yet to receive our blinds much less a date on when they'll be delivered and set-up. He has a little under $3k of our money and will not return our phone calls and will respond to 1 out of every 5-6 emails. Have any of you had a similar experience? Any suggestions besides buying blinds from someone else next time?

Don't know they guy but I have found out that bashing someone before you have your product on a public forum probably work out in your favor. I have been in the same situation before and it sux but some people are just dishonest people and will screw you. But if he was going to do it and he sees this most likely y'all will end up in court to get a refund and you better have a good contract signed up.

Never pay any money up-front. If someone is dishonest this is what they want. When they start that BS about needing money for materials. Tell them you will buy the material. Then see what reaction you get. That will help to cull some of the dishonest ones. Hope your deal works out for you.
There are some very good craftsmen who can't manage money. Their money or yours.

I had him build me stairs and a landing for my deer blind two years ago. I paid half up front and half on pick up. Smmoth transaction, great work. No problems with RWM here. Personally I would drive to his house and see what's up.

I almost always ask for half up front. That tells me that they are serious about buying it. Why should I have to front the money and then they back out and I am stuck with it. But I also wouldn't have a problem with them buying materials and me building it.

This guy operates out of his moms house in gustine, I know he got a regular day job now, and he is building platforms for a new guy that is building fiberglass blinds, I'm sure he must be busy, but he should return your calls and emails. I visited with him a couple times and he seemed to be on the up an up.

I just had the exact same experience with RWM Country. He's a crook. Going to report him to the BBB.

Do not order anything from RWM Country in Gustine, TX. This man either takes on much more work than he can handle or he's a crook and I'm thinking a little bit of both. I called him in mid April to order some stairs for my blind and he seemed like a nice enough guy and told me the cost would be $400 and he needed $200 up front and it would take approximately 3-4 weeks. After 4 weeks I started reaching out to him for a status update and he told me he was covered up and it was going to take longer. I then started to contact him once every four weeks all the way through mid August and each time I got the same story that he was just too busy and I would have to wait longer and he couldn't tell me when it will be done. After waiting four months and still no commitment from him on when he will have my stairs built I ask him to cancel the order and to please send back my $200. He told me my $200 was not refundable. I tried to explain to him that making me wait so extremely long with still no commitment on when he can start my job should make me eligible for my $200 to be returned to me and he basically had no sympathy for me at all. BEWARE! This man is not an ethical business man and will cheat you out of your hard earned money.

I am starting on your stairs next week. If you still want them? I really don't want to get stuck with an odd 12'-4" set of stairs. I keep my word. Yes I have been very busy. I am sorry that it's taken longer than expected. If I were a crook I would have a scam that didn't require hard work. It's up to you if you want the stairs.

I contacted him a couple years ago about building a couple of picnic tables and he was honest and said it would be several months before he could build them so I built them myself. Sorry to hear about everyone else's experience.

This post is from 5 years ago. From someone that was impatient. He got his blinds before deer season. Thus why he requested to remove post.

Thank you Chuck. As hard as I try I can't make every one happy. All the happy customers never seem to leave feedback. This is a 5 year old post that poster requested to be removed. Because he got his product. And was very happy.

You will get a great product at a fair price, I have 3 sets of stairs with hand rails that are 3 years old and look like brand new. The stairs work great on 10' towers. Highly recommend.

Happy customers never leave feedback? I will when I get my base...9+ months and still waiting. This thread really disturbs me and causes me to question the validity of the continuing story! What reasonable person wouldn't question after paying in June, expecting by deer season (last year) and still waiting in March (this year)?
