Been raining lightly here in Waco all weekend so been doing some reloading.
Had worked up a load for a friends 284 Win but needed to verify zero.I noticed the rain had not been falling according to radar out by the range so took a chance and loaded my stuff.
Took my HF 28 Nosler and the Horizon 308 built on an Eliseio Chasis.
The 28 Nosler I had 4 rounds loaded with a different power I had not used. Looks promising.

Then after finishing with the 284Win I pulled out the 308 and fired one shot missed the whole target.
Oops forgot it was still dialed for 1000 yards. blush So dialed back down fired one shot at one of the dots that are at the bottom of all the Redfield style targets and cut the dot. I had a brown paper backing as I figured the backboards would be wet and I noticed a strange looking bullet hole that shouldn't be there and with a 60X scope I could tell it was a Horsefly.....

I thought everyone knew that .308 is inadequate as a horsefly round. You're just lucky you hit him in the right part of the anatomy.

Outstanding shooting!

Was it a neck shot, or did you put it in the lungs?

If the wings didn't fall off whole, it was a gut shot.

pretty sure I hit it a little too far back as the splatter all went one way.... so Jason is correct gut shot but I think it was the erratic winds fault.

No recovery, pic or it didn't happen.

An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.
